Wanda Plantinga
Jakarta – Londen
Born in the Netherlands, Wanda Plantinga began her artistic education at ArtEZ, The Academy of Fine Arts. Her practice was shaped across continents from Jakarta, where she worked in design and advertising. She continued her studies at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, where graphic arts became central to her practice, marking a shift from realizing others’ visions to defining her own distinct visual language.
Her imagery is populated by beings that are both monstrous and tender: dreamlike forms that reflect a layered cultural heritage spanning Indonesia, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Nature, a constant presence in her life, resonates through her work in quiet yet insistent colors, ritual gestures, and monumental shapes.
Nice
Since relocating to Nice, France, in 2022, Plantinga’s work has moved toward greater simplicity, consciously drawing on her Asian heritage.
Amsterdam
Now in Amsterdam, her work drifts toward a new body of images.
